‘Monaco’ is the new single from dark alt-pop artist Leaone (‘Lee-Own’). Written and recorded in Brooklyn, NY with Lana Del Rey‘s longstanding band mate Tom Marsh and mixed by Abe Seiferth (Nation of Language, Yeasayer), ‘Monaco’ is taken from the Suffolk-based artist’s forthcoming debut album ‘Kings County’.
Described by CLASH Magazine as “Emotionally downbeat but completely gripping”, earlier singles drew heady comparisons with the likes of The National, Johnny Cash & Elliot Smith along with radio support at BBC Radio 1 (Huw Stephens), BBC Radio 2 (Jo Whiley) & BBC 6 Music (Chris Hawkins & Steve Lamacq) and a live session on leading UK LGBTQ+ station Gorgeous Radio.
Following recent release ‘4th of July’, the new single continues the theme of following your dreams – with the high stakes and big risks which accompany those actions – living in the moment but with the underlying fear of the bubble bursting.

“In ‘Monaco’ I’m dreaming of the high life with the girl I love, though it’s tempered by an element of disbelief at how good things are in that moment. It’s a song about longing for hot days and summer nights, cruising the French Riviera, listening to our favourite tunes, without a care in the world. We were both feeling inspired to follow our dreams at the time I wrote it and, whatever the outcome of that relationship, I hope it’s a song that encourages people to push on.”
Leaone’s debut album ‘Kings County’, produced by and co-written with Tom Marsh during two lengthy stays in New York, follows on October 6th.
